Dr.
Nielson attended
the University of Utah and received his B.A. in German before completing
Medical School in 1988, also at the University of Utah.
His
University of Utah education was accompanied by a host of honors, including
Honors at Entrance Scholarship, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi
Honor Society, and Medicine Honors Program. Dr. Nielson also graduated Magna
Cum Laude.
After
completing his medical education, Dr. Nielson filled his residency in Internal
Medicine at the University of Utah affiliated LDS Hospital. He then
accepted a Fellowship in Cardiology from 1992 - 1995 at the Maine Medical Center
in Falmouth, Maine.
Dr.
Nielson is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and by
Cardiovascular Disease. He is a member of both the American College of
Physicians and the American College of Cardiology.
He is on
active staff at St. Marks, Alta View, and Cottonwood hospitals and
courtesy staff at Pioneer Valley Hospital.
A native
of Santa Monica, California, Dr. Nielson and his wife Judy have three children.
