Dr.
Haws is a native of Logan, Utah. He
received his B.S. from Utah
State University in 1975 and his M.D. from the
University of Utah in 1979.
Upon
completion of his M.D., Dr. Haws pursued his
impressive post-graduation medical career in
Iowa. At the University
of Iowa Hospital,
in Iowa City, Iowa, Dr. Haws served
as Intern, Internal Medicine, Resident, Internal
Medicine, Fellow of Cardiology, and then as
Chief Resident, Internal Medicine.
In
1984, Dr. Haws returned to Utah to serve as
the Assistant Professor of Medicine - Nora
Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and
Training Institute at the University of
Utah.
By
1988, Dr. Haws decided to open his own private
practice in his hometown of Logan, UT. He
founded the Cache Valley Cardiology clinic in
June of 1988 and worked there through 1996
before being recruited to join the premier
cardiovascular group - The Heart Center.
He has been with the Heart Center ever since,
and is the managing physician of the Heart
Center.
Dr.
Haws has held numerous Academic and
Administrative positions, including Director,
University of Utah Medical Center Heart Station,
Director - Cardiology Department at the Logan
Regional Hospital, and Chairman - Intensive Care
Committee, Department of Internal Medicine, also
at the Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah.
His
professional affiliations include Cache
County Medical Society
, Utah State Medical Association
, American Medical Association
, American College of Physicians, Fellow of the
American College of Cardiology, and member of
the American Heart Association's Council on
Clinical Cardiology. Dr. Haws has also
received numerous medical research awards.
Dr.
Haws and his wife have 4 children. He
enjoys running, tennis, cooking and going to the
movies.
