General Mills Cutting Back Sugar in Cereals

Written by CitiHealth Staff

Now you can feel a little less guilty purchasing that sugar cereal you’ve loved since childhood – whether it be Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Trix or Cocoa Puffs.

General Mills announced last month they would be cutting back the amount of sugar in 10 of their kids cereals. As of December 31, all cereals shipped out have 10 grams or less per serving of sugar.

This is one step closer to achieving a goal the company set a year ago to reduce the grams of sugar per serving in their kids cereals to single digits.

General Mills said they have to reduce the sugar in tiny increments over time so consumers can accept and still enjoy the taste.
